Last October 11, as part of the celebrations of its twentieth year, the ENSAI organized a « Data or not Data » day. On this occasion, our Chief Data Scientist Zinnya Del Villar intervened during the round table « SME, ETI or large enterprise: how to deploy a strategy of data governance ». The ideal opportunity to recall some truths about Data Scientist profession: business expertise is just as important as statistical, mathematical and computer knowledge, and above all, the required skills are too numerous to be managed by a single person, and it is a real Data team that should be constituted…

A few days later, Zinnya took part in the 13th Rennes Statistics in Agrocampus with our Research & Development Manager, Christophe Thovex. The subject of their conference: « Approaching Big Data from a Business Perspective ». The aim was to present data as the main source of value creation for organizations at all levels: production, supply chain, customer service, marketing, etc.

Finally, the ADN OUEST Association of Digital Decision Makers West decided, at its Big Data evening, to highlight feedback from Rennes Métropole on the « Big Cycle Data » project. The project, with which we won the Challenge Big Data 2015 of the Images & Réseaux cluster, aims to optimize the management of self-service bicycles.

A big thank you therefore to the ENSAI (and Happy Birthday), Agrocampus and ADN West for their invitations to speak. On the other hand, we continue to conduct monthly workshops and conferences on the topic of data. The last meeting took place on November 10, and our geomatics specialist, Adrien Pavie, outlined the issues and challenges of spatial representation of geographic data. A subject that has so much fascinated that a follow-up is planned for 2017. Until then, you can give us your opinion on the themes that you would like to see addressed on our Meetup group.
